Vale Simon Rowbottom
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share this information with our clients, supporters and design colleagues.
Our most amazing Production Manager Simon Rowbottom passed away on 31st December 2021.
Simon was Salt’s Production Manager for over 12 years; well-respected by clients and suppliers, and always striving for the highest quality, cost-effective production.
Simon was a great mentor and friend to all of our Salty team. He shared with us his ideas, know-how and enthusiasm for life. He solved the trickiest of production challenges and met deadlines which were more magic than the proverbial rabbit-out-of-a-hat!
Simon was always willing, and oh so able, to do whatever he could for our clients.
Simon’s career in the local printing industry has spanned over four decades. He started in the industry in 1979 as a Costing Clerk/Estimator for Simpson Halligan. His experience in estimation and production progressed at William Brooks and Printcraft. He then became Production Manager for print companies including InPrint and Platypus Graphics, after which he became co-owner and Production Manager of JT Press at Redcliffe.
Simon was a true friend and supporter of so many in the Brisbane print and design industry. He was fun, passionate and a great role model to many apprentices starting out into the industry.
In 2009, Simon joined Salt Design to support his life partner and Salt’s Director Daile Drevins to help grow the business and manage studio production. With his vast print production knowledge and expertise, Salt diversified into digital print production, providing a capability that has enabled Salt to provide even higher levels of service to our clients.
With his interests and passions, Simon was fastidious. Whatever he did, he gave 110%, learning everything there was to know about each new interest or skill. Simon never needed simply to master something – he had to be the best at it!
The last few months have been more than tough for our team. But we have been there for each other, and supported by so many Salty family and friends.
It is only now that we have chosen to share this sad news with our wider Salt community.
We know you will share in our sorrow and great loss of such a wonderful man.
RIP the best Production Manager ever!
Because everything is better with a sprinkle of salt!
